Makati City Subway Inc. allocates P20M for University of Makati scholarship

MANILA, Philippines — Makati City Subway Incorporated (MCSI), the firm assigned to build the upcoming Makati subway system, has allotted P20 million for an exclusive scholarship program for qualified students, graduates and teachers of the University of Makati (UMak).

In a statement on Friday, Makati Mayor Abby Binay, who is also the acting president of UMak, signed a memorandum of agreement with MCSI’s parent firm, Philippine Infradev Holdings Incorporated, for the implementation of the said scholarship.

Under the memorandum, graduates, students or professors of UMak can study and graduate from the College of Civil Engineering of Tongji University in Shanghai, China.

Binay said Tongji University is known for its courses on engineering, business and architecture programs.

Graduates of the scholarship will receive “guaranteed employment” in management or technical posts for the Makati subway system.
