Gamboa reshuffles PNP posts

MANILA, Philippines – Philippine National Police (PNP) officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Archie Francisco Gamboa on Wednesday designated new positions in the country’s police force for their continuing reforms.

In a statement from PNP spokesman Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac, Gamboa appointed Brig. Gen. Manuel Abu as new director of Headquarters Support Service.

Abu, who is from Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Makatao Class of 1989, was a former deputy director of PNP Special Action Force and former executive officer of PNP Directorate for Police Community Relations.

As the new head of HSS, Abu will implement policies for governing daily activities at the PNP Headquarters that would enable a conducive and efficient environment in connection with PNP mission and functions.

Brig. Gen. Elmedio Tagra (Philippine National Police Academy [PNPA] of 1988) was appointed as Deputy Director of the PNP Civil Security Group. Tagra was former PNP Directorate for Intelligence.

Here are other senior officials who are appointed to new positions in the PNP:

• PCol Benjamin C. Acorda (PMA Class of 1991) – Acting Executive Officer, Directorate for Intelligence

• PCol Luisito P Magnaye (PMA Class of 1991)  – Acting Deputy Director, PNP Special Action Force

• PCol Rommel Francisco D. Marbil (PMA Class of 1991) – Chief of Staff, Civil Security Group

• PCol Ronaldo R. Cabral (PNPA Class of 1992) – Acting Deputy Regional Director for Operation, Police Regional Office 10

Police Colonel Ferdinand A. Sifuentes (PNPA Class of 1990) — Acting Deputy Regional Director for Administration of Police Regional Office 10 effective on December 17.
