LEGAZPI CITY –– The Department of Public Works and Highways placed the damage to public infrastructure in Bicol at over P2 billion after Typhoon “Tisoy” hit the region last week.
Virgilio Eduarte, director of DPWH in Bicol, said portions of the Maharlika Highway in Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, and Sorsogon provinces were damaged by the typhoon.
Either the flood, storm surges, or landslides destroyed bridges and flood control structures.
Albay had the most damage with P1.6 billion; followed by Camarines Sur with P580 million; Masbate, P430 million; Catanduanes, P6.5 million; and Sorsogon, P4.3 million.
“We expect the figures to increase as the report came initially from four provinces. More are coming,” Eduarte said.
