MANILA, Philippines — Motorists should take alternate routes as some major roads in Taguig City will be closed on Dec. 22 to give way for the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Parade of Stars, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said Wednesday.
The parade, which will show floats of movie entries, will run from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will observe the following route:
- From Lakeshore C-6, right turn to M.L Quezon Avenue,
- Left turn to MRT Avenue, then right turn Cuasay,
- Right turn to CP Garcia (C-5) Service Road,
- Then left turn to Upper Mckinley Road,
- Right turn to Lawton Avenue – 5th Street,
- Right turn again to Mckinley Parkway,
- Left turn to 32nd Street, left turn to 7th Avenue,
- Right to 26th Avenue, left turn to 5th Avenue,
- Right turn to LeGrand Avenue and Chateau Road.
MMDA also announced that the roads along ML Quezon (from Dr. A. Santos to MRT), along MRT (from M.L Quezon to Cuasay), along Cuasay (from MRT to C-5), and in C-5 Service Road cor. Cayetano Boulevard will be closed. All roads will be passable to motorists by 7 p.m.
Counterflowing vehicles are allowed along Upper Mckinley Road from C-5 to Lawton Ave., Lawton – 5th Street from Upper Mckinley to Mckinley Parkway, and along 32nd Avenue (from Mckinley Parkway to 7th Avenue), MMDA said.
To lessen traffic congestion, MMDA implemented a stop and go traffic scheme at C-5 – Upper Mckinley, C-5 Service Road – Sampaguita bridge, Mckinley Parkway – 26th Avenue.
In a press conference, MMDA chairman Jojo Garcia asked the public not to block the floats during the 8-hour parade.
“Huwag harangan ‘yung float. Hindi kailangang lumapit diyan may pwesto para sa spectators namin. [Don’t block the float. They do not need to go near the floats, we have places for spectators],” he said.
Garcia said this year’s MMFF parade will be the longest one yet at 15.2 kilometers.
