Two children died in a two-hour fire on Friday at a residential area in Las Piñas City, a day after a blaze claimed the lives of two other children in another barangay, the city fire bureau said.
Firefighters identified the victims as Adrian Luto, 5, and his brother John Rick, 2, who were found with severe burns at Manggahan BF Resort, where at least 10 houses were gutted down.
Arson investigator Insp. Nilo Lumitao said the fire could have started at the victims’ house around 10:53 a.m.
The victims were sleeping on the second floor of the house when the fire started, trapping them as the blaze engulfed the house.
The children’s parents and another sibling managed to escape, but the fire spread to nine other houses nearby.
The fire reached the fourth alarm before responding firefighters declared it under control at past noon, according to Lumitao.
On Thursday, two children also died in another fire at Leonardo Compound in Barangay Talon Uno.
Investigators said the fire originated from an unattended candle. Miko Morelos
