‘Tisoy’ victims in Albay get free drinking water from Red Cross

DARAGA, Albay — Hundreds of residents affected by Typhoon “Tisoy” (international name: Kammuri) here lined up with their containers in order to avail of the free drinking water offered by the Philippine Red Cross Saturday.

Water scarcity is one of the major problems that Albay folks are facing in the aftermath of Tisoy which hit Bicol region last Monday and Tuesday.

Daraga Mayor Victor Perete said the main water source at Budiao village was damaged in the onslaught of Tisoy.

“No water plus no electricity. Life is very hard. Hope it will be restored very soon,” Lydia Magdaong, 52, a resident of Bañag village said.

Jose Alejo, Red Cross Albay-Legazpi volunteer, said they have been delivering potable water to residents for two days now.

“The water is fit for human consumption because it is filtered and chlorinated,” he said.
