MANILA, Philippines — Authorities confiscated P1.6 million worth of marijuana stored in parcels of Marvel Comics and a child’s sleeping bag in Pasay City on Friday afternoon, Customs said Saturday afternoon.

A report from the Bureau of Customs (BOC) said members of Customs Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Force led by Special Agent 1 Joesim Mendoza and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency intercepted the 1.05 kg of marijuana at a mail exchange center in Pasay at 3:59 p.m.

Pasay police said the marijuana was consigned to Joseph Marck Tamo of Taguig City, who was arrested after he claimed the parcel.

Tamo is under Customs custody and will be charged for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 in relation to the Customs Modernization Tariff Act.
