Cagayan, including Babuyan Islands, Isabela, Apayao to have scattered rains

MANILA, Philippines — Cagayan, including Babuyan Islands, Isabela and Apayao are expected to experience cloudy with scattered rains and thunderstorms on Saturday, the state weather bureau reported.

This as the tail-end of a cold front affects the eastern portion of Northern Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its daily weather forecast.

Residents of the said areas were warned that flash floods and landslides may occur due to intermittent heavy rains.

Meanwhile, cloudy skies with scattered light rains will prevail over the Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos provinces, Northern Aurora and the rest of Cagayan Valley brought about by the northeast monsoon or “amihan.”

These areas are expected to have gusty conditions in coastal and mountainous places, Pagasa said.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms. Pagasa said flash floods or rain-induced landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

Strong winds moving in the northeast direction is expected over Northern Luzon, with rough coastal waters, the weather bureau said.

Meanwhile, Visayas and the rest of Luzon will have moderate to strong winds from northeast to north and moderate to rough coastal conditions.

Pagasa said that Mindanao will have light to moderate winds from northeast to northwest, while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
