Cops rescue 9 Chinese women being pimped to SEA Games visitors

Police on Friday, Dec. 6, rescued nine Chinese women believed to be victims of human trafficking in Mabalacat City, Pampanga province.

The women, according to police, were being pimped to foreign clients who are in the Philippines for the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games as spectators.

The games have venues in Pampanga and Tarlac provinces.

Col. Rhoderick Armamento, deputy director for operations of the Central Luzon police, said three Chinese nationals, serving as pimps and alleged members of an international prostitution ring, were arrested during the police operation.

The arrested suspects were identified as Fan, Jianwu, a native of Hube, China; Wang Xiankai, a native of Sichuan and a certain Jeff, also a Chinese national.

Seized from the suspects were P6,000 in cash, mobile phones, boxes of condoms, passports, identification cards and a Toyota Vios sedan.

The arrested Chinese will face charges of violating Republic Act No. 10364 or the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act. Joanna Rose Aglibot
