MANILA, Philippines — Three Chinese nationals wanted for economic crimes and large-scale fraud in China were apprehended in Metro Manila will be deported soon, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported Friday.
BI Commissioner Jaime Morente identified the Chinese nationals as 34-year-old Xu Xiaojun, 33-year-old Lv Mingwei, and 26-year-old Chen Yao Lin.
Morente said Xu was arrested last November 20 while a restaurant in Baclaran, Parañaque City.
Citing information from Chinese authorities, BI said Xu is wanted in his home country for involvement in bank credit card fraud, defrauding millions of yuans from his compatriots.
Meanwhile, Lv and Chen were arrested last November 29 along Newport Boulevard in Pasay for their alleged involvement in internet fraud.
Chinese authorities said their victims suffered more than US$2 million due to the internet scheme.
Morente said the Chinese nationals will be deported as soon as the BI board of commissioners issues the order for their summary deportation.
This, alongside their placement in the bureau’s blacklist and bang of their future entry to the Philippines.
BI added that their passports have also been revoked by the Chinese government.
