Latest data from the Philippine Statistics Authority showed that in 2017, motorcycle riders accounted for 72.7 percent of registered deaths due to land transport accidents, the highest of any group. Pedestrians ranked second at 15.7 percent. Occupants of cars and three-wheeled motor vehicles came in next, at 3.1 percent each, followed by pedal cyclists at 2 percent. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
