LEGAZPI CITY –– At least one resident in Panganiban town in Catanduanes died due to Typhoon “Tisoy” (international name: Kammuri), according to the latest report from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).
Reynaldo Flores, 71, died due to severe head trauma after falling and hitting his head, resulting in hypovolemic shock, or massive loss of blood, while he was at the evacuation center in Cagdarao Elementary School.
Thirteen Catanduanes residents were also injured due to the typhoon, six of which were in Pandan, four were in Baras, while the other three were in San Miguel.
Virac town was declared in a state of calamity due to the effects of Tisoy.
Meanwhile, Catanduanes provincial officials will decide Friday whether or not to declare the province under a state of calamity.
As of Wednesday evening, 3,916 houses were recorded damaged, while 282 were destroyed, according to PDRRMO.
The partial damage to crops, fisheries, and poultry and livestock has reached P230 million as of Wednesday evening.
Telecommunications and power lines were still down in most areas as of Thursday noon.
