CEBU CITY –– The internal cleansing of the police organization here continues.
At least six policemen were dismissed from service by the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) for alleged neglect of duty.
Brigadier General Valeriano de Leon said the police officers chose not to contest the decision anymore.
“They failed or maybe they don’t intend to appeal anymore their administrative case after repeated notices to do so. So, I signed their dismissal papers from the service last week,” he said.
De Leon did not specify the infractions committed by the six police officers, who were identified as Master Sgt. Jerry Macabudbud, Corporal Raymonito Panoh Mesa, Corporal Jobie Libradilla Antipolo, and Patrolmen Joseph Sala Tabotabo, Frances Dinglasa Maucesa, and Edmund Barry Tabar Pizarra.
Police Brigadier General Ildebrandi Usana, deputy regional director for administration, said the dismissed personnel were formerly assigned at the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Section of PRO-7 while the administrative charges against them were being investigated.
“It turned out there was strong evidence against them,” Usana said in a press conference.
De Leon said the Regional Personnel Records and Management Division recommended the dismissal from the service of the six policemen.
He said this would serve as a warning to other policemen in the region to always do their job correctly and stay away from illegal activities.
“I will not think twice to sign your dismissal order if you are found guilty or you continue your illegal activities, such as drugs and other criminal acts. Policemen like you have no place in the organization,” De Leon said.
The dismissed cops will not receive benefits from PRO-7.
