MANILA, Philippines — The US Embassy in Manila closed its office starting Tuesday noon due to inclement weather brought about by Typhoon Tisoy, with international name Kammuri.

In an advisory, the embassy advised applicants to regularly check their e-mail for instructions regarding their appointment.

“In the event of an Embassy closure due to severe weather conditions, regularly check your e-mail for instructions in case your appointment for American citizen services, immigrant, or nonimmigrant visas will need to be rescheduled to a later date,” the embassy said.

In its latest weather update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Typhoon Tisoy was last spotted 55 kilometers east of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.

It packs a maximum sustained wind of 150 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 205 kph.

The whole Metro Manila is currently under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2
