MANILA, Philippines — A website showcasing tourist spots in the country has been launched for Southeast Asian (SEA) Games athletes and visitors who wish to explore the Philippines during their stay.
The Department of Tourism (DOT) launched the microsite with the aim of promoting the country’s top tourist destinations while being accessible to SEA Games visitors.
“With the SEA Games, we would be receiving thousands of delegates across the Asean region and travelers from neighboring countries,” Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said Monday, Dec. 2, in a statement.
Puyat said the DOT was headed for “sustainable tourism” and it would be an “important opportunity for our country to showcase the best of the Philippines in a very accessible manner so that we can win as one nation and as one Asean.”
The tourism microsite (https://philippines.travel/seagames2019) features Philippines cultural heritage sites, beaches, local cuisines and products.
It is powered by DOT’s official partner, Guide to the Philippines, which offers tour packages with promotional rates that are available only during the duration of the SEA Games or until Dec. 11.
Among the tour packages being offered are guided cultural tours and dining with entertainment shows in Manila, private resorts in Laguna, heritage tours and nature exploration in Ilocos region and Zambales, beach and diving in Batangas, adventure and recreational activities in Pampanga and Tarlac, and more.
