Close to 2,000 passengers stranded in Bicol ports due to Tisoy

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines  — Thousands of passengers and sea vessels were stranded at different ports in Bicol due to Typhoon Tisoy.

Lt. Junior Grade Excelsior Abenoja, operations officer of Philippine Coast Guard Bicol, said in a report that as of 8 a.m. Sunday, there were 1,640 stranded passengers in Matnog Port and 109 in Pilar Port in Sorsogon.

In Albay, at least 140 were stranded in Pio Duran Port and 47 in Tabaco City Port.

Aside from passengers, 521 rolling cargoes, 18 fishing vessels, and a motor banca were also prevented from sailing from the ports since 11 p.m. on Saturday.

As of Sunday morning, Storm Signal no. 1 was raised over Catanduanes, Albay Sorsogon, Camarines Sur, Masbate including Burias and Ticao Island.
