Started in 2001, the festival pushes for the preservation of Olive Ridley sea turtles (Lepidochelys olivacea), which nests on the Morong town beach in Bataan province.
There will be a sand sculpture contest, environment forum, environment fair, body painting contest and paddle painting contest.
Dec. 1 to 3: Fiesta de los Toros
The coastal town of Nasugbu in Batangas province, pays homage to its patron, St. Francis Xavier.
Activities include a bull riding competition, fun run, marching band dance exhibition, boxing tournament, procession and grand parade.
Dec. 2 to 6: Kawayanan Festival
A thanksgiving feast in M’lang town in North Cotabato province, that features roasted pigs to be served for free to residents.
This year’s theme is “Banwa Ko, Kaupod ko sa Pag-asenso” (Bayan ko, Kasama ko sa Pagasenso).
Aside from the “litson” float parade and litson sa “kawayanan,” activities include an indigenous peoples and Muslim day, farmers’ day, percussion band competition and football festival.
