Duterte downplays ICC case filed against him
MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday downplayed a case filed against him at the International Criminal Court (ICC) for his bloody campaign against illegal drugs.
“Don’t be afraid of that case, the ICC is not that skilled. When it goes to the courts, I will dance the pandanggo,” Duterte said in jest, referring to Filipino folk dance, “pandanggo sa ilaw.”
Duterte cursed at the ICC, saying he hoped that he could someday talk back against the court.
“‘Huwag kayong maniwala na mga p******** na yan. I hope someday pakita ko sa kanila kung paano sila naging bobo,” he said in a speech during the wreath-laying ceremony for the 156th birth anniversary of Andres Bonifacio in Caloocan.
[Don’t listen to those sons of bitches. I hope someday I can show them how idiotic they have been.]
Duterte is the lone respondent in complaint of crimes against humanity filed by the National Union of Peoples’ Lawyers at the ICC over his bloody drug war.
