TUGUEGARAO CITY — Five students fell ill on Thursday allegedly after eating siomai, which they bought at a makeshift stall in Baggao town, Cagayan province.

The victims experienced extreme loose bowel movement, severe headache, and dizziness hours after eating the Chinese dim sum, local authorities said.

The students, all members of a cheer dance group, were scheduled to perform at the Baggao town fiesta but were stranded due to heavy rains that caused flooding in Abusag village.

They were forced to stay at the Paranan village hall and bought siomai while waiting for the floodwater to subside.

The students were taken to the nearest hospital for medial attention.
