MANILA, Philippines — Police arrested six individuals for allegedly producing fake senior citizens’ cards in Manila on Thursday, Nov. 28.
The Manila Public Information Office identified them as Rizaldy Sayana, Carlo Magno, Carlito Ibarra, Chris Alonzo, Joshua Flores and Angelica Aranda.
Re Fugoso, Manila Department of Social Welfare director, said in a report that the department had been confiscating fake senior citizens’ IDs in the course of its campaign to gather data about senior citizens in the city.
Senior citizens are entitled to 20 percent discount on all goods and services provided they present IDs.
Acting on the report submitted to it, the Manila Police District Special Mayor’s Reaction Team (MPD Smart) and the Bureau of Permits and Licenses Office launched a sting operation in an office on Quezon Boulevard, Santa Cruz district in Manila where the suspects had been making the fake IDs.
Seized during the raid were fake IDs, computer sets and P1,000 in marked money.
The suspects are now detained at jail facilities of the MPD as they await charges of violating the Revised Penal Code, which outlaws falsification and use of falsified public documents and manufacture and possession of such.
