2 arrested in QC bust; P3.06-M shabu seized

MANILA, Philippines — Police seized more than P3 million worth of shabu (crystal meth) and arrested two suspected drug peddlers during a buy-bust operation in Quezon City on Wednesday night.

Brig. Gen. Ronnie Montejo, acting chief of Quezon City Police District, identified those arrested as  Saida Amatonding, 26, and Harris Amatonding, 19, both of Caloocan City.

Montejo said the suspects are cousins and are vendors of ready-to-wear goods in Quezon City.

A confidential informant tipped police of the suspects’ alleged illegal drug activities which led elements of the La Loma police station, under Lt. Col. Camlon Nasdoman to stage the bust.

Police said the suspects were nabbed after handing six sachets of shabu to an undercover police officer during the bust along Biak na Bato Street corner Quezon Avenue in Barangay Santo Domingo at 11:30 p.m.

Seized from the suspects were 450 grams of shabu worth P3.06 million; marked cash used in the bust; credit cards and a cellphone.

The arrested suspects are now detained at the La Loma police station while a case for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 is being readied against them.
