Weather disturbance outside PAR intensifies into severe tropical storm — Pagasa
MANILA, Philippines — The weather disturbance outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has intensified into a severe tropical storm, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported Wednesday afternoon.
The state weather bureau said Severe Tropical Storm Kammuri is seen to enter PAR on Sunday, one day after the opening of the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games).
Kammuri was spotted 1,645 kilometers east of Visayas with maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 115 kph.
Pagasa said one of the scenarios seen once the weather disturbance enters PAR is that it will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rain showers in Central and Southern Luzon, including Metro Manila.
Another possible scenario, Pagasa said, is that Kammuri nears Northern Luzon.
In the next 24 hours, cloudy skies with light to moderate rains are expected over Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region due to northeast monsoon.
