P115M ‘shabu’ seized from ‘cohorts’ of Chinese nabbed in Makati drug bust

MANILA, Philippines — Police confiscated more than P115 million worth of shabu (crystal meth) from two drug suspects in a follow-up operation in Las Piñas City on Wednesday morning.

A report from the Southern Police District identified the suspects as Joel Bustamante and Merwin Bustamante.

Police said the arrested suspects are alleged couriers of Chinese national, Liu Chang, who was previously arrested for possession of P2.5 billion worth of shabu in a Makati City apartment.

Members of the Las Piñas City Police Station, Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG), and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency conducted the anti-drug operation at a parking lot located on C5 extension Barangay Manuyo at 6 a.m.

Seized was 17 kilograms of meth valued at P115.6 million found stored inside green tea bags.

The suspects and pieces of evidence were brought to PNP-DEG, authorities said, as appropriate charges were being readied against the two men.
