MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Tuesday said it is monitoring another weather disturbance outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
The state weather bureau said Tropical Storm Kammuri was spotted 2,335 kilometers east of Visayas, packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of 80 kph. Pagasa said the weather disturbance is moving west-northwest at 40 kph.
Kammuri is expected to get close to PAR by Friday, Pagasa said, adding that once it enters the country it will be locally named “Tisoy”.
Meanwhile, Pagasa said the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) may cause cloudy skies with scattered rain showers over the Visayas, Palawan, Zamboanga del Norte, Surigao provinces, and Dinagat Province on Tuesday night.
On the other hand, the northeast monsoon is seen to bring cloudy skies with light rain showers over Cordillera, Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, and the Bicol region.
A gale warning has also been raised by Pagasa over Batanes, Cagayan, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur.
