Construction worker  injured in Rizal Memorial Stadium accident

MANILA, Philippines – A construction worker was injured following a worksite accident at the Rizal Memorial Stadium along Adriatico Street in Malate, Manila on Monday morning, police said Tuesday.

The stadium is one of the venues of the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

The Manila Police District said  Richard Delos Santos, 45, of Tondo, Manila was dismantling a scaffolding when he accidentally slipped and fell amid heavy rains before noontime.

A co-worker witnessed the accident and helped rush Delos Santos to hospital.

The attending physician at Ospital ng Maynila said  Delos Santos sustained leg injuries.

On Monday, viral photos showed some portions of the sports complex still undergoing renovation with the SEA Games football events scheduled in a few hours.
