MANILA, Philippines — Authorities have flagged down 310 violators of road safety rules in a one-time, big-time operation in 10 locations across Metro Manila over the weekend.
Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said the violators were flagged down for driving without a license, overloading, not wearing helmets, reckless driving, having unregistered modified motor vehicles, wearing slippers, and for driving vehicles with defective lights.
Specifically, a total of 264 motor vehicles were flagged down for overloading, Banac added in a press briefing on Monday.
A truck driver was also tested positive for illegal drug use and was immediately arrested by the police.
Banac said the operations were jointly conducted by the PNP-Highway Patrol Group, Land Transportation Office, Department of Public Works and Highways, Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, and the National Capital Region Police Office.
