HUNDREDS of participants will join the inaugural “Paddle for the Planet” event on June 4 at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel’s North Beach in Dubai, UAE.
Using surf skis, paddle boats and dragon boats, an estimated 400 supporters will paddle around Burj Al Arab to Pierchic and back to raise awareness of the worldwide Paddle for the Planet environmental campaign that aims to conserve the world’s oceans.
The next day, June 5 (World Environment Day), thousands of supporters from over 50 countries—including the Philippines—will ride the world’s seas and oceans in a synchronized global paddle to raise funds for a nominated marine conservation project area – this year being the Raja Ampat Islands in Northwest Papua, Indonesia.
The inaugural event in the Philippines will take place in Lapu-Lapu City at the Cebu Yacht Club on June 5 at 8 a.m. Participants will paddle on kayaks from the Cebu Yacht Club to the Marcelo Fernan Bridge and back. Spectators and participants are welcome to join.
