2 alleged illegal STL bet collectors nabbed in Lucena

LUCENA CITY, Philippines – Two suspected illegal Small Town Lottery (STL) bet collectors were arrested in a police operation in this city on Saturday, police said Sunday.

Arrested around 9:10 p.m. while allegedly collecting bets in Barangay (village) Dalahican were Amalia Pancho, 58, and Susan Rosauro, 38, Lucena police said in a report.

Seized from the suspects were STL bet collection forms, paraphernalia, and cash bets in different denominations.

When questioned, police said the suspects failed to produce legitimate identification cards issued by Pirouette Gaming Corp., the licensed STL operator in the province.

The suspects are now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9287 (An Act Increasing The Penalties for Illegal Numbers Game, Amending Certain Provision of Presidential Act 1602 and for Other Purposes).
