Magnitude 4.2 quake rattles Masbate town

MANILA, Philippines — A 4.2 magnitude earthquake rocked the town of Pio V. Corpuz (Limbuhan) in Masbate province on Saturday morning, state seismologists said.

In an earthquake bulletin, Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the tremor hit five kilometers (kms) northwest of Pio V. Corpuz  at 11:04 a.m.

The earthquake, which was of tectonic origin, has a depth of 2 kms.

Phivolcs also reported that the earthquake was felt as Intensity I (Instrumental Intensity) in Legazpi City and Masbate City.

Phivolcs assured the public that no aftershocks or damage are to be expected from the tremor.
