Motorcycle gunmen kill police colonel in Cebu

A police official was gunned down by still unidentified men along Molave St. at Barangay Kamputhaw, Cebu City, at 5:35 p.m. on Thursday.

Police Lt. Col. Joie Yape Jr., former chief of the Provincial Intelligence Branch of the Cebu Provincial Police Office, was driving his motorcycle when two men on board another motorcycle fired at him several times.

Yape sustained multiple gunshot wounds on his head and body.

He was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

Police Brig. Gen. Valeriano de Leon, director of the Central Visayas police, has organized a task force to look into the killing.—NESTLE SEMILLA
