Bulacan trader slain, driver hurt in gun attack

CITY OF MEYCAUAYAN –– A 54-year-old businessman was killed while his driver was wounded when four armed men shot them on Thursday, police said.

Investigators said Jacob Mora, who owned gasoline stations, was on board his Toyota Fortuner when assailants attacked him and his driver John Patrick Uzon in Barangay Iba about 2 p.m.

Police said Mora came from a bank where he deposited more than P1 million before the ambush.

The gunmen were on board a red Honda Civic when they blocked the road, and fired at the victims, the initial investigation said.

Police recovered from the crime scene 100 empty shells for an M-16 rifle and .45-caliber pistol, and two empty 30-round magazines for M-16 rifle.

Mora and Uzon were taken to a hospital but the businessman died while being treated.
