2 brothers shot in Bukidnon town but one survives to identify assailant

ILIGAN CITY–A 36-year old man was killed while his brother was wounded in a gun attack at the village of Dagumba-an, Maramag town, Bukidnon province on Wednesday yet, according to police.

Maj. Gil Agpaoa, Maramag police chief, said Joseph Bodiongan, 36, and his brother Jesus Bodiongan, 34, were on the way home from a neighbor’s wake when they were attacked.

Both were rushed to a hospital where Joseph was declared dead from a gunshot wound in the chest.

Jesus, who got shot in the leg, is undergoing treatment, Agpaoa said.

One of the attackers was known to one of the brothers because of an old personal grudge.

Agpaoa said Jesus was able to identify one of the assailants. Agpaoa, citing Jesus’ narration, said the assailant had been hacked by Jesus with a bolo that had been used to slaughter a pig to be cooked at the wake.

Agpaoa said he surmised that the assailant didn’t expect Jesus to survive.

Police are now on the hunt for the suspect identified by Jesus. Divina M. Suson
