Fake cigarettes worth P400K seized in Albay

LEGAZPI CITY –– Police arrested three persons and confiscated some P400,000 worth of fake cigarettes in Libon town in Albay province, a police report said.

Arrested were Grace Joy Elmido, 35, from Quezon City; Mohammad Nor Pangcoga, 21; and Wahid Barodi, 33, both residents of Quiapo, Manila, said Captain Dexter Panganiban, Albay police spokesperson.


The suspects were arrested while selling 39 boxes of counterfeit Marlboro brand cigarettes to a buyer in barangay Pantao at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday.

The suspects are facing charges for violation of intellectual property and customs and tariff act.
