MANILA, Philippines — The local government of Pasay City has suspended classes and government work on Dec. 2 to celebrate city’s 156th foundation day.
In a statement on Monday, the Pasay City government announced that classes for all levels in public and private schools are suspended.
Government work except for health services and response for disasters are also suspended.
Last year, President Rodrigo Duterte signed Republic Act 11140, declaring Dec. 2 of every year a special non-working holiday in Pasay City to be known as the Foundation Day of Pasay City.
In another statement, Pasay City also cautioned its citizens regarding companies or individuals soliciting advertisements for the Pasay Day celebration.
“We wish to inform business establishments and the general public that these solicitations are not sanctioned by the City government unless otherwise authorized by the Office of the Mayor through a written letter,” read the statement.
