LRT 1 operator launches mobile app to make Metro commute easier
The Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC) has the solution for weary train passengers in Metro Manila who wish to make their commute easier.
On Tuesday, the private firm that operates and manages the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 launched ikotMNL which is now available on Google Playstore and the Apple Store.
It is believed to be the first railway and tourism app in the Philippines, said LRMC chair Juan Alfonso.
LRT 1 passengers can see on the app real-time train arrivals and departures, fare and crowd information, news and announcements, passenger advisories and a chat box where they can air their concerns.
The app also features crowd monitoring in the LRT 1’s 20 stations to help passengers plan their travel ahead of time, Alfonso added.
Aside from being a transport app, ikotMNL also provides directions to tourist spots near LRT 1 stations such as Rizal Park and Intramuros.
