MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday ordered the arrest of those who will violate the ban on e-cigarettes as ordered by President Rodrigo Duterte.
In a statement, PNP Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said PNP Officer-in-Charge Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa has directed “all police units nationwide to enforce the ban on use of vapes” and “ensure that all violators will be arrested and properly recorded in the police blotters.”
Banac added that Gamboa also ordered the PNP to coordinate with local government units and agencies, vape stores and owners to enhance the enforcement of the ban.
Duterte ordered the ban on e-cigarettes on Tuesday night, saying that it was “dangerous” to use it.

The Department of Health previously reported the first recorded case of lung injury caused by the use of e-cigarettes, saying that the patient has had the habit of vaping daily for four months since March.

“Likewise, all PNP personnel are directed to refrain from violating the directive or risk disciplinary sanctions,” the statement read.
“All heads of offices and chiefs of police units in all levels are held accountable for the strict enforcement and compliance of their personnel with the ban,” the statement added.
All PNP campuses, Banac said, are now declared as a “no vape zones.”
