Soldier, companion arrested for shooting military cop in Taguig

MANILA, Philippines — A soldier and his companion were arrested for fatally shooting a military police officer in Brgy. Western Bicutan, Taguig City in the early hours of Wednesday.

Those arrested were identified by the Southern Police District (SPD) as Sgt. John Necesito who is assigned to the Light Reaction Regiment of the Philippine Army, and Jepoy Arcilla, a civilian.

Police said Necesito, Arcilla and three other unidentified suspects shot dead PFC Gerald Niko del Pilar who is detailed with the Army’s Military Police Battalion.

The three other unidentified suspects remain at large police said.

According to a police report, prior to the shooting, the victim had a heated argument with the five suspects. Del Pilar succumbed to a gunshot wound to the head from an unknown type of firearm.

Police investigators have yet to determine what charges will be filed against the suspects as the investigation is still ongoing, the SPD said.
