ORMOC CITY—A power distribution utility in Leyte province on Monday yet launched a program to provide electricity to at least 15,000 households as a Christmas gift to those who don’t have power connections yet.
The program, launched at the training center of Leyte V Electric Cooperative, seeks to hit 100 percent electrification of some remote parts of its service areas.
Jannie Ann Dayandayanan, acting general manager of the cooperative, said the cooperative seeks to connect at least 15,000 households to power by end of 2019.
The program is for those indigent and paying applicants who are within the cooperative’s coverage area.
The cooperative promised lower costs and faster connections.
“The impact and joy we can share to the many indigent applicants,” said Dayandayanan, “is something that we should emphasize.”/Edited by TSB
