US defense chief visits American Cemetery in Taguig

MANILA, Philippines — US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper on Tuesday paid tribute to American and Filipino soldiers who died during World War II.

The top US defense official, who is in the Philippines to meet his counterpart Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, laid flowers for the fallen service members at the Manila American Cemetery in Taguig City.

While in the Philippines, Esper also met with Secretary of Foreign Affairs Teodoro Locsin Jr.

The US official discussed counterterrorism, defense capacity building, and a reaffirmation of US commitment to the Philippines.
