The National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) on Friday said they were putting the entire Metro Manila on red alert from Nov. 25 to Dec. 14 in the run-up to the upcoming 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
The NCRPO chief, Police Brig. Gen. Debold Sinas, said they would deploy around 8,000 policemen to secure the metropolis as the Philippines hosts the biennial games this coming Nov. 30.
The Games, which will run from Nov. 30 to Dec. 11 this year, will be held across 55 sports and 523 events across 39 venues in Luzon.
Sinas said policemen would be assigned to the 27 billet areas for the athletes, as well as the 19 stadiums and other ceremonial venues in Metro Manila.
Around 10,000 tourists are also expected to flock the country throughout the duration of the event, he added.—KRIXIA SUBINGSUBING
