SAN PEDRO CITY — Police recovered 15 kilos of suspected marijuana in Tanza town in Cavite province.
Cavite police director Col. Marlon Santos, in a text message on Saturday, said the recovered stash was worth about P180,000, based on the street price of marijuana at P12,000 per kilo.
He said the illegal drugs were recovered in a unit of the Bocalan Apartments in Barangay Mulawin around 3 p.m. Friday.
Police identified the tenant as Illanie Reyes, who claimed to be a businessman and a farm owner. Reyes had been renting the house since February.
But a caretaker of the apartments on Friday sought help from the police and village officials after suspicious men tried to enter Reyes’ unit without him around.
The caretaker, who grew suspicious of his tenant’s activities, allowed the authorities inside where they found the bundles of “marijuana” and six plastic packets of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth).
Santos said it turned out that Reyes had just been arrested a day before in a buy-bust operation in Quezon City.
Police were still investigating the suspect./lzb
