Cebu leg of SEA Games kicks off Saturday

CEBU CITY—At least 6,000 runners will join the Cebu leg of the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games torch relay on Saturday, Nov. 16.

The 5-kilometer run will be participated by students, policemen, Army and government employees.

The Office of the Presidential Assistant of the Visayas, in a press statement, said gun-start will be at 5 p.m. and will be followed by a short lighting ceremony and a program in the Block 5 of SM Seaside City Cebu.

To ensure the smooth flow of the activity, the southbound lane of the South Road Properties (SRP) will be closed for six hours.

The road closure will start at 2:00 p.m. from the corner of F. Vestil Street fronting SM Seaside up to the boundary bridge of Cebu and Talisay cities.

It will last until 7:30 p.m. or once the event will be finished.

Half of the South Coast Road or the northbound lane shall be utilized as a two-way road to give way to the motorists going to Cebu City and South Cebu.

“Entry of the vehicles from South Coastal Road going to the u-turn slot below the bridge (Talisay boundary) shall also be prohibited,” said the Cebu City Transportation Office.

The 30th SEA Games is scheduled from Nov. 30 to Dec. 11.
