MPD probes cop for allegedly beating up minor in Manila

MANILA, Philippines – The Manila Police District (MPD) said Friday that it is investigating its police officer after the latter allegedly beat up a minor in Pandacan, Manila.

In a statement from MPD Public Information Office, MPD acting chief Brig. Gen. Bernabe Balba ordered Manila police station 10 to probe the incident allegedly involving Police MSgt. Dennis Piad, who is assigned at the MPD Traffic Enforcement Unit.

Lt. Col. Carlo Magno Manuel, MPD PIO chief, said in a phone interview that a relief order against Piad might be released this week.

Manuel added that administrative and criminal charges might be filed against Piad after the investigation.

In a separate statement, Balba said he would not tolerate any unlawful acts of his personnel.
