LEGAZPI CITY—The body of a 7-year-old boy was found in a river in the town of Libmanan, Camarines Sur two hours after floodwaters swept him away while he played with other children as Tropical Storm Ramon lashed at the province.

According to municipal disaster mitigation officers, Jomve Salbino, of the village of Cambalidio, was reported missing around 8 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 15.

The province was under signal No. 1 due to Tropical Storm Ramon when Salbino went missing.

Rowel Tormes, municipal disaster mitigation officer of Libmanan, said Salbino was playing in the flood with other children when he was swept away.

The children were waiting to pick up coconuts in the flood brought down from the mountains, Tormes said.

The current grew strong as the children were playing and picking up coconuts. “They were fighting for possession of the coconuts,” said Tormes. Rey Anthony Ostria/Edited by TSB
