MANILA, Philippines – While defending his work as an actor, Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. assured on Friday that he knows his mandate as a senator.
“I am first and foremost a legislator. I know my mandate,” Revilla said in a statement.
“Wala pong batas na nagbabawal sa pag aartista. Ito ay isang marangal na trabaho na bumuhay at bumubuhay sa pamilya ko.”
“Haters are going to hate, and bashers are going to bash. The truth is out there and it is their choice to side with lies and falsehood. Sino ang may problema? Not me,” Revilla added.
He issued the statement after Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa pointed out that Revilla has to prioritize his work as senator amid a rumored television comeback.
“Dapat i-manage niya na first and foremost, he’s a senator, pangalawa na yung paga-artista niya. So, priority niya palagi itong trabaho niya dito, alam naman niya yan,” Dela Rosa said in an interview at the Senate Wednesday.
(He should manage that first and foremost, he’s a senator, and his being an actor is only secondary. So his work should always a priority, and he knows that already.)

Revilla agreed with Dela Rosa, saying he knows his priority.
“I have and will always put my commitment to the Filipino people first,” he said.
“Records will bear how I fulfilled my mandate in my previous terms, and the almost six months of my work in Senate now will speak for itself,” Revilla added.
He then enumerated the number of bills and resolutions he filed and his chairmanship of at least two committees in the Senate – the Committee on
Civil Service and Public Information.
