Angry Birds, Green Swaggers beat rivals in Lorega caging

THE White Angry Birds and the Green Swaggers beat separate foes last Tuesday in the ongoing Lorega San Miguel Barkadahan Basketball Cup at the Lorega San Miguel Sports Complex.

The White Angry Birds shocked heavily favored Icons, 98-87, while the Green Swaggers nipped the Pink Panthers, 83-81.

Gabriel Olieta exploded for 36 points as he single-handedly carried his team to victory against the bigger Icons.

White Angry Birds struggled in the opening period as the Icons soared to a, 45-30 lead.

In the second quarter, Olieta scored eight straight points to pull them closer to the Icons, 38-45 then the White Angry Birds outscored the latter, 28-15 points in the third quarter to post the 11-point win.

Ypil led the White Angry Birds with 24 points while Floyd Herrera paced the Icons with 22 markers.

Meanwhile, Romnick Hedano scored 23 points as the Green Swaggers edged the Pink Panthers by just two points. Antoy Pepito helped Hedano by chipping in 21 points.

Boging Nacional and Jerwin Llerin led the Pink Panthers with 31 and 21 points, repectively.  /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
