Duterte approves P2K monthly aid for Cafgu members
President Rodrigo Duterte has approved a P2,000 a month financial support for members of the Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit (Cafgu) “in recognition of (their) invaluable service” in the fight against internal and external threats.
Created in 1987 through Executive Order No. 264, the Cafgu is an auxiliary unit that complements the Armed Forces of the Philippines in fighting off security threats, including insurgency.
The financial support covers qualified and active Cafgu members who appear “in the roster maintained by the AFP and actually rendering services” starting July 2019.
Those still undergoing training by July 2019 “shall be entitled to a prorated portion (of the support) until the satisfactory completion of the prescribed training,” Mr. Duterte’s EO 94 added.
In 2018, the President signed EO 69 granting a similar P7,000 financial support to Cafgu members for the months of November and December 2018.
