DSWD readies food, other items for villagers on path of ‘Ramon’

LEGAZPI CITY —- Some P9 million worth of family food packs are ready for distribution once evacuation is ordered in affected areas in Bicol on the path of Typhoon “Ramon,” Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said on Thursday.

Arnel Garcia, DSWD regional director, said there are 23,143 family food packs available at the DSWD warehouse.

Garcia said these are ready for distribution if Ramon intensifies and forces the evacuation of families on its path.

The DSWD has also set aside P3 million in funds for relief operations.

Non-food items prepared by the DSWD included 79 tents, 8,047 boxes of sleeping kits, 1,093 boxes of family kits, 2,827 boxes of hygiene kits, 68 kitchen kits, 49,941 pieces of malong, 82 rolls of laminated sacks and 26,338 pieces of blankets. Mar S. Arguelles
