‘Ramon’ strands 3,000 sea passengers in Bicol

LEGAZPI CITY –– Tropical Storm “Ramon” has stranded 2,577 persons in the Bicol Region, according to reports from the Office of Civil Defense Bicol as of Thursday afternoon.

In Matnog port in Sorsogon, 1,938 passengers were stranded, while in Tabaco City in Albay, 339 have been stuck in its ports.

Also stuck were 757 rolling cargos and 15 sea vessels in 12 seaports in the provinces of Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and Camarines Sur as of noon Thursday, according to the same report.

Province-wide cancellations of classes in all levels were still in place on Thursday in the Camarines provinces and Albay.

Classes at all levels were suspended in Virac, Gigmoto, Viga, and Bato towns in Catanduanes, where public storm warning signal number 2 was raised since 5 p.m. Wednesday.

In Sorsogon, Sorsogon City and 10 other towns also suspended classes in anticipation of light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains forecast by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration.
