MANILA, Philippines — More than 3,000 passengers were stranded on Thursday in ports of some provinces due to bad weather caused by Tropical Storm “Ramon,” the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.
As of 8 a.m., PCG said 3,406 stranded passengers were recorded in ports in Albay, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Northern Samar and Western Samar.
In Albay, 325 passengers were stranded in Tabaco port while 153 were stranded in Pio Duran port.
In Catanduanes, Virac port has six stranded passengers while San Andres port has one stranded passenger.
In Camarines Sur, thirty passengers were stranded in Pasacao port.
In Sorsogon, 16 stranded passengers were recorded in Bulan port; 1,237 in Matnog port; and 68 in Pilar port.
In Northern Samar, 143 passengers were stranded in Dapdap port; 704 in Balwarteco port; 77 in San Isidro port; and 646 in Sta. Clara port.
PCG also noted that operations of 699 rolling cargoes, 18 vessels, and 10 motorbancas were temporarily suspended due to the inclement weather.
State weather bureau said Bicol Region will experience light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains due to the weather disturbance.
